چکیده
Flood prediction is very important in land and water resources management. Many flood disasters could be mitigated with adequate preparedness especially urban watershed. This study assessed the runoff potential of Opa watershed Southwest Nigeria using remote sensing Soil Conservation Service or SCS curve number (CN) techniques. The 2007 NigSat image year was classified into different cover classes combined its hydrological soil groups to determine each sub-watershed. sub-watershed low considered have lower while one higher potential. CN also used estimate maximum retention, (S) runoff, (Q) for a rainfall event 2-year return period weighted sub-watersheds highest lowest showed that 9 average value 85.93 has (5.53 mm) vegetated 10 69.46 (0.34 mm). concluded available geospatial technology appropriate hydrologic assessment techniques constitute an effective method disaster risk reduction sustainable

Disaster Risk Reduction in Agriculture through Geospatial (Big) Data Processing
Intensive farming on land represents an increased burden on the environment due to, among other reasons, the usage of agrochemicals. Precision farming can reduce the environmental burden by employing site specific crop management practices which implement advanced geospatial technologies for respecting soil heterogeneity. The objectives of this paper are to present the frontier approaches of ge...

According to a UNDP Report (1998), about 54% of Africa’s population is estimated to live in absolute poverty. Currently in Nigeria, rapid change and vigorous development in information technology (IT) is occurring, changing Nigerians’ way of life, as well as the country’s economic strength, national power, and international competitiveness. The status of a country or nation in the global politi...

Geo-information techniques have proven their usefulness for the purposes of early warning and emergency response. These techniques enable us to generate extensive geo-information to make informed decisions in response to natural disasters that lead to better protection of citizens, reduce damage to property, improve the monitoring of these disasters, and facilitate estimates of the damages and ...

A broadly updated version of KINEROS, KINEROS2 may be used...

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
